WHAT IS A LIVE BUTTERFLY RELEASE? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INDIVIDUAL AND A MASS RELEASE?
Typically, there are two methods of butterfly release: an individual release or a mass release. During an individual butterfly release, individually packaged butterflies are distributed to guests within small, sturdy boxes for release at a designated time. With a mass butterfly release, anywhere from one to eight dozen butterflies are released from a decorative box or boxes at a designated time. If you’re unsure what type of butterfly release best suits your event or how many butterflies to order, please contact us for advice and assistance. We are happy to help!
HOW ARE BUTTERFLIES SHIPPED? IS IT HUMANE TO SHIP LIVE ANIMALS?
We love butterflies! Our primary goal is to release butterflies into the environment in a humane and eco-friendly manner. We treat our butterflies with TLC and strive to deliver the youngest, most vibrantly colored butterflies to our customers. After being well fed, butterflies are carefully packaged in individual boxes (for individual release) or glassine envelopes (for mass release) and placed inside a sturdy container fitted with insulation and ice packs. Butterflies are cold-blooded and will remain still in their cool shipping container. They are shipped FedEx Priority Overnight and arrive to you the day prior to your event in most cases. Simply keep your butterflies in a cool location away from direct sunlight when they arrive and follow the directions inside your shipping container. Should you have any questions whatsoever, please contact us for assistance.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE OF MY EVENT DATE SHOULD I ORDER? CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE LAST MINUTE ORDERS?
We recommend ordering your butterflies at least four to six weeks prior to your event date. We do our best to accommodate last minute orders. Please contact us for more information.
HOW MANY BUTTERFLIES SHOULD I ORDER?
It’s truly a matter of personal preference. If you are using individual release boxes, one box/butterfly per guest is ideal. If your budget does not allow this, one butterfly per couple or every other guest will still create a beautiful visual display. If you opt for a mass release, a minimum of two dozen butterflies is recommended. The more butterflies released, the more visually stunning the moment.
CAN I RELEASE BUTTERFLIES IN ANY TYPE OF WEATHER AND/OR ANY TIME OF DAY?
Absolutely not! Temperatures must be above 60 degrees Fahrenheit for a butterfly release. Monarch butterflies are cold-blooded insects and they are unable to move in chilly temperatures. In order to give butterflies sufficient time to find food and shelter prior to nightfall, butterflies must be released between 10am up until one hour prior to sunset. Butterflies must never be released in rainy, windy or cold weather conditions.
DO YOU SHIP ANYWHERE IN THE US?
Due to USDA regulations, we are not able to ship to states West of the Continental Divide or to the State of Connecticut.
DO YOU OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR LOCAL EVENTS?
Yes, we offer local hand delivery to customers in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana for a $20 fee. An email will be sent to you after your purchase to arrange a delivery location and time.
If you are not eligible for local hand delivery or we do not have a delivery driver available on your event date, your butterflies must be shipped FedEx Priority Overnight to ensure their health and comfort.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel your order for any reason, you may do so with 7 days or greater notice given for a full refund. A 10% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations with less than 7 days’ notice. There will be no refunds for orders cancelled within 48 hours prior to the ship date.
DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE?
We guarantee your butterflies will arrive alive or your money back. In the unlikely event that one or more butterflies expire during shipping, please photograph the deceased butterflies and email this to us within 7 days of your event date for a refund. We cannot guarantee a successful butterfly release if butterflies are released in inclement weather, after sunset or in temperatures lower than 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
